Russia has offered ceasefire in Syria from March 1. Yet, US officials have doubts about the Russian initiative.
US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said that he did not have any information about the specific date for Russia's proposal of ceasefire in Syria. However, Toner added, the US would rather prefer immediate ceasefire, Reuters reports.
Russia's Ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, said that Russia and the USA were discussing opportunities for a ceasefire in Syria.
Officials with the US State Department believe that the Geneva talks on Syria were interrupted because the Russian Air Force supposedly attacked a Syrian humanitarian convoy.
