Irish Republican Army out on the streets again

Illegal Continuity Irish Republican Army, which is designated as terrorist organization in a range of countries restarted its patrolling the cities.

Irish paramilitary group activity can be traced back to the 1916 Easter Rising. IRA's violent actions have always targeted the British security services as they resisted the British rule and their motto is known as "Brits out".

The army has killed many British security services officers in the recent years.

Among of other violate actions, the IRA resorted to bombing, kidnapping, assassinations and riots.

The intensity of the campaigns has increased drastically over the last few yeaars.

The Continuity Irish Republican Army posted a photo to Facebook that captured its members openly patrolling the streets of Lurgan. One man is armed with a Kalashnikov and another with an Uzi gun. The comment posted under the photo stated: "Volunteers of the Continuity Irish Republican Army pictured during the week patrolling the streets of Lurgan, Co Armagh on the lookout England's armed colonial police, the RUC/PSNI and undercover British Soldiers who are operating unwanted across occupied Ireland."

The British forces are quite dismissive of the so-called IRA revival though:

"Whilst it is incredibly easy for anyone to manipulate social media platforms or other features of the internet to gain some measure of publicity, when it is done in this manner it can constitute a serious criminal offence, and we have already begun the work necessary to establish the facts, and bring those responsible for criminal acts to justice," Superintendent David Moore, District Commander for Armagh said.
