Obama chicken-hearted to go to Ferguson

US President Barack Obama is not going to visit Ferguson. He prefers to wait and see how the situation unfolds before he can go to the troubled town, news agencies report.

For the time being, the US president only calls for peace and civilized protests. He also remains in telephone contact with mayors of cities, where the protests take place.

However, deputy press secretary of the White House Eric Schultz said that Obama considers a possibility for visiting Ferguson.

Schultz said it was "still under consideration" but that the White House would wait until "things calm down a little bit."

The President can not but respond to acts of vandalism that accompany the protests. Barack Obama said that the rioters in Ferguson or other cities will be held accountable in conformity with law.

St. Louis County police detained more than 60 people during riots in the US city of Ferguson, Reuters reports.
