Russia will study the new package of Canadian sanctions and will not leave these unacceptable measures without response, officials with the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"We are outraged by the fact that, in particular, the Canadian government leads such a demonstrative and challenging line of pressure on the Russian Federation. The non-independence of this line, its opportunistic and purely geopolitical character that has no relation to objectives of strengthening our relations is beyond doubt," deputy head of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"We will definitely study another package of Canadian sanctions. These unacceptable actions will not go without response," he stressed.
Canada announced new restrictive measures against Russia on 16 September. The sanctions list included Russia's largest state-owned bank Sberbank, as well as several industrial organizations, such as Mytischinsky Engineering Works, Machine-Building Plant named after M.I. Kalinin, Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Engineering named after B.B. Tikhomirov, Dolgoprudnenskoye Scientific-Production Enterprise and Marine Scientific Research Institute of Radio Electronics Altair.
In addition, the list contains the names of several individuals whose entry to Canada was denied. They include Deputy Defense Minister Colonel-General Yuri Sadovenko, Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Dmitry Bulgakov, first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Commander of the Central Military District, Colonel General Nikolai Bogdanovsky, Commander of Land Forces, Colonel General Oleg Salyukov, ITAR-TASS reports.
