The results of an internal investigation related to the terrorist attack in Boston, which occurred on April 15, 2013, have been published in the USA. Representatives of several government departments justified the FBI agents, who failed to prevent the tragedy.
The confidential report blames Russian secret services for the bombings in Boston. The authors of the report claim that Russian secret agents had not provided their foreign counterparts with enough information about the activities of the prime suspect of the bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, NY Times reports.
The newspaper cites unnamed sources that allegedly have access to the classified documents. Representatives of Russian law enforcement agencies, in turn, say they did not have any delays in handling the information about the activities of Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
The ambiguous document was prepared by chief inspectors of the US National Intelligence, which combines 17 government departments. The report analyzed the reasons why the FBI failed to prevent the terrorist attack in Boston. U.S. intelligence agencies had been keeping tabs on Tamerlan Tsarnaev since 2011. However, they concluded that the young man posed a bigger danger to Russia, rather than to the United States.
It was said that Russian intelligence services informed the Americans about Tsarnaev's radical views. However, Russian law enforcers supposedly did not inform the Americans about the telephone conversation between Tamerlan and his mother, in which they "discussed Jihad."
Russian security officials say that the information is not true to fact. Interestingly, investigators found no evidence to prove that the Tsarnaev brothers were members of an international terrorist organization.
As a result of the terrorist attack, which occurred at the Boston Marathon almost a year ago, three people were killed, over 250 were injured. After several days of intense search for terrorists, one of the two alleged organizers of the attack, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot by police, whereas his younger brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was wounded and arrested. US prosecutors demand Dzhokhar should be executed. The trial on his case will begin on November 3, 2014 .
