Another fatal case caused by avian influenza H7N9 has been reported in China, the Committee on Health of Hunan Province said Wednesday.
A 64-year-old woman died in the hospital of the city of Shaoyang in Central China. Thus, the number of deaths from the disease has reached people, whereas the number of people infected is left unchanged - 130.
Reportedly, the deceased was the first patient in Hunan province, who was diagnosed with this type of avian influenza. Afterwards, three other individuals were diagnosed with the same disease too. One of them has died this month, while another one recovered and was discharged from hospital. The third patient currently remains in critical condition.
In an attempt to pacify the population, the Chinese authorities say that cases of avian influenza "are of isolated nature."
