EBU names the host country of Eurovision 2023

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has decided to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the UK. This was reported on July 25 by the press service of the organization.

After numerous discussions, the right to host the contest was given to Great Britain, which took second place with Sam Ryder's Space Man. The British broadcaster BBC will broadcast the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

The BBC has already taken on host duties for other winning countries four times already. Continuing this tradition of solidarity, we know that next year's competition will showcase the creativity and skill of one of Europe's most experienced public broadcasters, while ensuring that this year's winners, Ukraine, are celebrated and featured throughout the event," said Swedish music producer Martin Österdal.

In addition, it is reported that Ukraine automatically passes to the finale of the song contest.

The EBU has deprived Ukraine, the winner of the 2022 contest, of the opportunity to host the event on its territory as early as June 23.

The organization noted that at the moment Ukraine cannot guarantee the safety of all participants in the competition, the organization of which should begin in the near future. Usually 10,000 people participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, and another 30,000 spectators come to the country from all over the world.

Ukraine received the right to host the competition after the victory of the Kalush Orchestra in the competition held on May 14 in Italy.
