The painting by French painter Albert Marquet "Notre Dame de Paris in Winter" will be unveiled at the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum.
The event will be an important part of the multimedia exhibition project "Museums of Russia". The project includes the creation of art exhibitions at museums in three cities of Russia - Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk and Kazin. Each exhibition contains one piece by Albert Marquet (1875-1947) from the collection of the State Museum named after A.S. Pushkin, from the disbanded State Museum of New Western Art
The specially prepared multimedia program tells of the history of the State Museum of New Western Art, created on the basis of well-known collections of Sergei Shchukin and Ivan Morozov. It also tells of the works by Albert Marquet, renowned for his numerous works of Parisian landscapes. The artist also distinguished himself as an illustrator, graphic artist and a watercolor master.
As part of the Year of Culture, the Nizhny Novgorod region has prepared a variety of activities, in which hundreds of thousands of Nizhny Novgorod region residents could participate.
"It is important that everyone, who works in this field, who is engaged in creative work, could express themselves, could show the whole of Russia and the world that previous generations had done a lot, but our generation is worthy of that heritage," the Governor of the region Valery Shantsev said.
