Valerie Trierweiler, the girlfriend of French President Francois Hollande, was hospitalized on Friday night after she took a large dose of an unknown medication. The common-law wife of the French president reportedly took the medication on Thursday night, after the news of Hollande's affair with actress Julie Gayet was made public.
It was said that Valerie was very upset about the fact that Hollande told her of his affair with another woman "without a shadow of regret." Trierweiler was not planning a suicide, but may not have calculated the dose of the medication that she was taking.
According to French publications, the woman remains in a state of extreme nervous fatigue. On Jan. 17th, Hollande was allowed to visit her at hospital.
Last week, French magazine Cloder published photographs showing Hollande in the company of his lover, 42-year-old French actress Julie Gayet. It was also said that the 59-year-old Presideте of France was renting an apartment for his lover not far from the Elysee Palace.
