Alive baby nearly killed at Chinese crematorium

A scandal occurred in the Chinese city of Hefei. Employees of a local crematorium nearly burned a baby that was still alive. The boy, aged less than one month, was pronounced dead as the child suffered from severe pathology of the respiratory system from his birth. Parents agreed to end the maintenance of the boy's life following doctors' recommendations. Afterwards, the medics pronounced the baby dead.

The work of the hospital is currently being investigated; the doctor and the nurse, who were on duty that day, were suspended from work. The child was returned for treatment; the boy continues to receive blood transfusion for humanitarian reasons, a statement from the hospital said.
