Apple tries to gain profit from Whitney Houston's death

Apple raised prices on digital albums of late soul diva Whitney Houston on the iTunes Store. Many subscribers of the service accused the corporation of the attempt to derive profit from the tragedy.

Whitney Houston's fans were extremely concerned with the fact that the price on the singer's "Ultimate Collection" compilation album (released in 2007) went $5 up on the iTunes Store. Many fans said that Apple should be ashamed for what it did.

Even though the prices on Houston's albums went up, her records are expected to hit record sales next week. Her "I Will Always Love You" hit has already become No. 1 on iTunes. Houston has sold 170 million albums worldwide during her career.

In the meantime, Sony Music intends to release additional albums and other materials connected with Whitney Houston's career. However, the corporation will at first wait for the results of the singer's autopsy. Sony Music will gather for a special meeting in New York to discuss the additional releases.

Whitney Houston's body was found at Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on February 11. The circumstances surrounding her death say that the singer most likely collapsed and drowned in the bathtub.
