On March 20, 2015, the Nizhny Novgorod region conducted a ceremony to award the winners of the annual regional competition "Investment Project of the Year 2014." Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev took part in the event, where Mr. Shantsev presented the award in the special category "Discovery of the Year" to General Director of the company RusVinyl, Gunther Nadolny.
"Creating a favorable investment climate is one of the main objectives of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, because investment means everything today. Everyone is talking about the creation of new jobs, about the need to add new financial resources to the tax base. It is impossible to do all this without investment projects. During the last three years, we receive about 300 billion of investment in fixed assets every year. Labor productivity has increased 2.8 times," said the Governor.
For the first time in nine years of history of the competition, the winner in the nomination "Investment project of the year in the field of import substitution" received the award.
"The country should have a technological security. Today, imports satisfy up to 90 percent of the needs in machine-building, 80 percent in electronics and 70 percent in pharmaceuticals. Therefore, import substitution is a necessary and highly topical subject. I would like to resort to the call from Nizhny Novgorod merchants of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair in the late 19th century, who used to say: "We can do everything!". One only needs to set goals and go for them," said Governor Shantsev.
According to CEO of the company Daido Metal Rus that won in the nomination "Investment project of the year in the field of mechanical engineering, Vladimir Sorokin, "when a company makes an investment decision in a certain region, two main components are taken into account." "The first one is a business component. The second is, of course, the environment, the attitude of the authorities towards investors and, I must say, that the chairman of the Board of Directors of our company held talks with the Nizhny Novgorod Governor, as a result of which our company decided to execute a project in the Nizhny Novgorod region," he said.
The winner in the category "Infrastructure project of the year" - the company High Speed Networks - received the award from the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Oleg Sorokin. "Nizhny Novgorod is eagerly waiting for this project, as it will open huge opportunities to our city, and a real infrastructural revolution will take place as a result of it. My favorite law of physics says: The vector sum of the forces on an object is equal to the mass of that object multiplied by the acceleration vector of the object. In world economy, our weight is not as great as we would like it to be yet, so we need to accelerate," he said.
According to the rating of "Where to do business in 2015," prepared by experts of the General Director magazine at the end of 2014, the Nizhny Novgorod region was included in the top ten of Russian regions from the point of view of the favorable climate for doing business.
