The Nizhny Novgorod State Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Lenin held a presentation of books that were published in 2014 with the support of the regional government.
"Today, the Nizhny Novgorod region is one of the few Russian regions that implements the program of financial support for regional publishing. The Publishing Board of the Nizhny Novgorod region works at the regional government as an advisory body, - the minister for information technology, communications and media of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Sergei Kuchin said. - State support to the publishing industry today, against the backdrop of the decline in the production of patriotic, spiritual, educational and children's literature, as well as the general decline of interest in reading, is particularly important."
Last year, the Publishing Board received more than 30 projects for budgetary support; 14 projects were recommended for state support. Those, among others, included books and photo albums about the Nizhny Novgorod State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve and the Nizhny Novgorod State Philharmonic Hall, as well as such books as "Returned Names" and "The Gorky Suvorov Military School" dedicated to Nizhny Novgorod residents, who took part in the Great Patriotic War.
Most of the published books were delivered to libraries, schools, museums, archives, presentation funds and public organizations of the region free of charge.
Cooperation with Nizhny Novgorod writers and publishers within the scope of the program of financial support for the publishing industry will continue this year.
