In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a meeting devoted to preparations for the World Cup 2018 was conducted under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov.
"We have looked at all issues that we will have to solve in the coming weeks. All of them have been solved. In Nizhny Novgorod, everything is organized on a sufficiently high level, and it is important to point out very good interaction," said Igor Shuvalov. Russian Sports minister Vitaly Mutko and Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev took part in the meeting.
According to the Sports Minister, the government of the region was one of the first to develop its own program of preparations for the World Cup. This is a well-balanced program that includes transport, engineering and sports infrastructure, the minister added.
"In our opinion, the site for the construction of the stadium is a very good one. Places to accommodate the teams have also been set well. At least one team will have a permanent base here. We count a lot on Nizhny Novgorod, as the city may potentially host 1/8 and maybe quarter finals of the World Cup."
The region has already received a positive expertise conclusion for the construction of the 45,000-strong stadium on Strelka, Nizhny Novgorod region Governor Shantsev said.
