In Kramatorsk (the Donetsk region of Ukraine), self-defense activists seized six armored personnel carriers after Ukrainian armored vehicles entered the town this morning, April 16th.
According to local media, supporters of the federalization of Ukraine surrounded the vehicles and blocked their movement. Camouflaged armed men came to help the people afterwards. Together, they disarmed the vehicles and drove them towards the village of Ivanovka, Donetsk-based website OstroV said. There is no confirmation of this information from other sources.
Meanwhile, spokesmen for self-defense forces of Kramatorsk told Interfax that the two columns of tanks and armored vehicles entered the town. "The first column stopped. Tanks are advancing into the city," a representative of self-defense forces said.
Earlier it was reported that locals try to impede the movement of tanks and armored vehicles.
Yesterday, the Ukrainian military seized the Kramatorsk Airport. After clashes with local militiamen, the local activists decided to lock the soldiers at the airport, blocking all exits from its territory with tires, planks and sandbags.
