The explosion of a vehicle and subsequent fire on Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Monday, October 28, prompted immediate evacuation of the largest square of the Chinese capital.
According to witnesses, the car flew onto the square at high speed and rammed into a crowd of people. At least three were killed, one of them is the driver of the burning car.
Official Chinese authorities have not reported details of the incident yet. An eyewitness, who was on the square at the time of the incident, said that there was an explosion before the vehicle caught fire. The incident could be an act of self-immolation.
All entrances to the square have been closed.
