People lynch child killer by burning him allive in Guatemala

A crowd of people lynched a suspected murderer of two children in Guatemala. The villagers burned the man alive.

The tragedy occurred in the village of Taktik, 50 kilometers north off the capital - the city of Guatemala. According to police, the 35-year-old Julio Saquil, being in a state of alcohol intoxication, entered the primary school building with a machete and killed an eight-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.

Children and adults witnessed the massacre. The furious villagers seized the murderer, took him out into the schoolyard, beat him, doused him with gasoline and set him ablaze, RBC reports. The man died at the scene.

As it turned out, the victim was a drug addict. He had previous criminal records, but the motive of his latest crime had not been determined.

The lynch law is a common phenomenon in Guatemala. In 2011, there were 234 incidents of mob violence committed against suspected perpetrators.
