A three-day mourning was announced in Ingushetia on Aug. 20th to pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack, which took place during a funeral service in the republic the day before. Seven people were killed in the attack. Mass and public entertaining events in the republic were canceled.
A suicide bomber exploded the device on Sunday, Aug. 19th in Malgobek, Ingushetia, during the funeral of a police officer. The terrorist waited for the colleagues of the deceased police officer, Ilez Korigov, to come for the funeral before setting the bomb off. Seven police officers were killed, six more were injured.
"This monstrous act that the militants committed showed that they trampled on even the holy Muslim Eid Festival. The terrorists have shown once again that they had nothing sacred. What they did is blasphemous," the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, said at a press conference. In connection with the tragedy, Yevkurov ordered to strengthen security measures throughout the country.
The relatives of the killed people will receive compensations of 100,000 rubles ($3,000), the victims - 500,000. The Russian Interior Ministry will also make compensation payments to the victims.
Ingushetia's law-enforcement officials believe that the terrorist act was conducted by 34-year-old resident of the Sunzhensky district, Khamzat Aldiev, who was on the federal wanted list for several years as a member of a terrorist group, adds RBC. In addition, it is known that the terrorist attack was organized by Arthur Getagazhev, a member of a terrorist group, a resident of Malgobek.
