Mother and child fall into sewer through asphalt in Russia

The rescuers in the city of Bryansk, Russia, found the body of the baby boy (aged 18 months), who had fallen into the sewer with his mother the day before.

On Sunday, the woman was walking with a stroller in the center of Bryansk, when she literally lost the soil under her feet. The asphalt surface of the road caved in, and the woman fell into the sinkhole together with her baby. The woman managed to get out of the hole, but her son was sucked in with the stroller. The search for the baby continued for 28 hours, Vesti.ru says.

First, the works were carried out in the area of the hole: the rescuers hoped to find the child in the formed gully. Once in the body could not be found in the mass of collapsed soil, 10 search teams were created. They inspected all sewer manholes along the sewer line. The body of the baby was found on January 9 at 17:00. 

Oleg Yankov, a spokesman for the Regional EMERCOM said that the rescuers found the pieces of the child's clothes at first. The body of the child was found later in the evening, The Epoch Times said. 

According to local media, the relatives of the affected family were invited to identify the body of the child. The boy's mother is in hospital in a state of shock.
