An American from California simultaneously contracted the coronavirus and monkeypox, reports NBC.
Mitcho Thompson, from the town of Sebastopol, told the TV channel that he tested positive for COVID-19 at the end of June, and soon after noticed red spots on his back, legs, arms and neck.
"The doctor was absolutely certain that I had monkeypox and that I had both," Thompson said.
According to him, because of the double infection, he felt very bad.
“And the worst thing was, to be honest, when I could barely get out of bed and could barely even drink a sip of water,” admitted Thompson.
Stanford University professor of medicine and infectious disease specialist Dr. Dean Winslow has admitted that it is indeed possible for humans to contract monkeypox and COVID-19 at the same time. But, according to the scientist, it will be "incredible bad luck", because the viruses are very different.
