Fire Departments, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island and Bay Crane Northeast managed to transport a 1,000-pound Brian Butler to a new nursing house.
A resident of Rhode Island has been struggling with overweight and depression for about ten years.
The nursing house where he used to live got closed because of their $2 million debt and Butler had to move to another facilities as all the other residents.
Michael Raia, representative of the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health & Human Services claimed: "This is a patient with very complicated medical needs and this required a coordinated approach across state government. His care and his safety has been our priority throughout this transport."
It took 7 hours to transport Butler with a flatbed truck at an 8-mile distance.
Butler wishes to have a gastric bypass surgery, but is not able to find a doctor who could conduct it.
