Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor announced the recall of more than 7.4 million vehicles around the world. The decision was made in connection with malfunctioning power window switches.
About 2.5 million vehicles in the U.S., 1.4 million - in China, 1.39 million - in the EU, as well as 460 thousand vehicles in Japan are to be recalled. The problems with window switches are possible in 14 models produced in 2006-2010. No accidents have been registered in connection with the defect, Bloomberg reports.
In March of this year, Asia's largest automaker recalled more than 700,000 vehicles on account of various defects that were made during assembly. The steering wheel cable was twisted in most cars, reports Trend.az.
In particular, there were 70,500 Toyota Camry sedans recalled in 2009 and 116,000 Venza crossovers during 2009-2011. The vehicles had to be recalled over the need to replace brake light switches.
The current recall is the largest for the corporation from the time when 10 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles were recalled in 2009 and 2010 due to the defects related to unintended acceleration. Over the past two years, more than 12 million cars of this brand were withdrawn from service for various reasons.
