Syria: Nothing indicates an early resolution of the crisis

By Luis Beaton

The approach of dialogue, was repeated by local authorities, and was supported by more than 24 opposition political organizations and personalities who called a national conference of all opposition parties internal and external, to resolve the crisis.

In the recent visit to the capital of the envoy of the UN and the Arab League, Lakhdar Brahimi, and the meeting held this week in Cairo by Egyptian, Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers, nothing indicates an early resolution of the crisis in Syria.

Nobody disagrees with the need to stop the blood spilling and to restore the harmony between the population in this country, Brahimi said at his arrival, but he left without advancing proposals or actions on the directions that facilitate his mediation.
.
After his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad he said, "There is no plan for now, we will develop one after meeting everyone involved and I hope that the plan will be useful for the salvation of Syria."

In Cairo, the absence of Saudi Arabia, one of the main enemies of the Syrian people, opened questions, since Riad is in complicity with Washington and is one of the main financiers of arms and mercenary groups that attack the territory of this nation in the Middle East .
This group, promoted by Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, last July at the Islamic summit in Mecca and ratified by the Non-Aligned XVI in Tehran, capital of Iran, is one among other initiatives while an optimistic view is a hasty reading.

Three of its members requested a solution for the exit of the government of the Syrian President, something that would not advance progress and it would break any negotiations before germinating.

During his visit on Wednesday to the Syrian capital, Persian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, reiterated his support for the positions of government officials during a meeting with Syrian President al-Assad.

The president expressed support for all initiatives presented to find a solution to the crisis, reaffirming that the key to the success of any of these is the sincerity of the intention to help his people.

He reiterated that his country is open to negotiations that respect the sovereignty, freedom of the people's decision and rejection of foreign interference.

In other words, any approach to the problem that insists on his departure is indicative of external interference, lack of national sovereignty and the right of Syrians to decide their own destiny, and appears headed for failure.

It would be necessary to wait for another initiative or plan that would continue to keep on the Brahimi course to exclude pressures on what the government in Damascus must do or not do.

The approach of dialogue, repeated by local authorities, was supported by more than 24 opposition political organizations and personalities who called a national conference of all opposition parties, internal and external, to resolve the crisis.

Participants indicated that the call arises in view of achieving a dialogue between Syrians without preconditions or preconceptions, working to stop the bloodshed and to preserve territorial integrity and national unity.

That's one of the maxims that Brahimi raised here, but it is necessary to see what the reaction of the external factors that support with funding, weapons and all kinds of aid to irregular terrorist bands who, until now, refuse to talk. If the armed groups agree to do so, their one condition has been the exit of al-Assad's government.

Moreover, the west confirmed their intention to continue "adding fuel to the fire" with the shipment of arms and mercenaries, said a Russian source, denoting recent news reported by the international press

Those who support violence are prepared to send a large batch of military supplies to armed groups in Syria reports the media in Moscow.

The shipments would include anti-aircraft systems, portable rocket launchers and machine guns of large caliber, besides sending mercenaries across neighboring countries like Turkey, a senior Russian official said, quoted by RIA Novosti.

In this regard, the British Foreign Minister, William Hague, advanced in a speech to parliament that several western nations are ready to reinforce and strengthen the provisions of military supplies to irregular armed bands in Syria.

Recently media reported the arrival at  the Turkish port of Iskanderun, on the east coast of the Mediterranean, a cache of 400 tons of war supplies from Libya, which were carried on the ship "Victoria," bound for irregular armed groups in Syria.

In recent days, the Syrian Arab army destroyed several transport containers with weapons, including different types of rockets, including SAM-7, which were destined for the armed bands, labeled terrorists by local authorities.

In this difficult situation, the Government seeks to cut power and supplies to the bands, while they and their allies persist in the use of arms.

So far nothing indicates an optimistic scenario for resolving the Syrian crisis and stopping the violence, which, as Mahatma Gandhi said, "is the fear of the ideals of others."
