Wimbledon in state of shock after Serena Williams crashes out to Russian teenager
Maria Sharapova won the Women's Final in the prestigious Wimbledon tennis tournament yesterday, beating Serena Williams in two sets with a convincing display of tennis, 6-1 and 6-4, denying the two-times champion her hat-trick.

Maria Sharapova, 17, from Nyagan, Russia, 15th in the world ranking, becomes the first Russian to win a tournament at Wimbledon, her first Grand Slam.

Serena Williams demonstrated her habitual fair play, admitting that she did not play her best tennis and congratulating Sharapova for playing well and deserving to win.

Playing with great concentration and stamina, in excellent physical shape, Sharapova was relentless as she showed nerves of steel and an experience way beyond her 17 years and two months to take the match.

Maria Sharapova becomes the third youngest player in history to take the women's title, after Lottie Dodd (1887, 15 years and 9 months) and Martina Hingis (1997, 16 years and 9 months).
