The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Syria, Mohammed Khaddour, was at the national headquarters of the Communist Party of Brazil (PC do B), last Wednesday (16th), to participate in a debate on the situation in the country. The activity, which was part of the three years of the creation of the Working and Study Group on the Arab World (GT Arabic), began with a minute of silence in tribute to those killed in the conflict.

The Arab GT member, Assad Frangieh, who gave a presentation about the geography of the country, showed that Syria is surrounded by armed troops on all its borders, beyond the mercenary groups financed by the United States and its allies infiltrating the country

In this sense, the Syrian ambassador reported that "there is a world war against Syria." According to him, foreign powers took advantage of demonstrations for reforms in the country, which occurred in 2011, to infiltrate members of Al-Qaida to destroy the infrastructure of the state to create chaos in the country.

"Since the beginning of the crisis, the government has called for dialogue to prevent foreign intervention in the country (...) year several bills have been applied in response, yet these countries still encourage the violence," he said.

Mohammed Khaddour highlighted that 90% of the fighters in the country are not Syrians and showed evidence of this fact, a list of captured mercenaries who are of other nationalities.

International Solidarity

Representing the PCdoB, Councilman Jamil Murad sympathized with Syria and denounced the misinformation propagated by the media. "We are pleased to receive the ambassador at party headquarters, so there is information that is not part of Western media monopoly."

"We believe in the purpose to search for peace, progress and cooperation between peoples," said Murad. According to him, on his visit to Syria, he witnessed the country as being peaceful and calm.

Moved, state deputy of PT, Adriano Diogo, who chairs the Human Rights Commission of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, demonstrated his rejection of violence in the country "These mercenaries are intended only for political and economic domination, and destruction of the roots of the people of Middle East "

Representing the Brazilian Center of Solidarity with the Peoples and the Struggle for Peace (Cebrapaz), Rubens Diniz reminded that the organization participated in an international mission in Syria, where they could witness the unity of the people and declared that "In the name of "human rights," imperialist powers want have the right to war. "

The general secretary of the Palestinian Arab Federation in Brazil (Fepal), Emir Mourad, recalled "There's a very special word that grabs the Palestinian people with nails, teeth and blood, and that is self-determination of peoples and their political independence."

Mourad said that more than a political issue, defending the sovereignty of the nation is to defend fundamental principles, and agreed with Jamil about the media. "The mainstream media lies to the world to justify the invasion."

Political and peaceful solution of the crisis

On last January 6th, Syrian President Bashar Assad made a peace plan for the country that consists of three steps: First, stop the violence in the country, the second provides a national dialogue in order to create a Constitution, according the desires of the population. For this step, the government guarantees the free passage of all Syrians who want to participate, and the third will be to form a new government that will oversee the country's ministerial changes and put them into practice.

Regarding the recent bombing of Syria's Aleppo University, which left more than 80 dead and 160 wounded, Assad believes that Frangieh is another mercenary action in response to the peace plan proposed by the president. "The Army of Syria stated that the region from where the missiles [against the University] came from were literally near the border with Turkey," he said.

The event brought together various organizations, political parties and people sympathetic to Syria that could demonstrate their support for the sovereignty and self-determination of the people, suffering for two years with the crisis in the country.

The ambassador thanked everyone who participated in the act of support, and said that Assad still has the support of the people and the Syrian Army and with this peace plan the government will preserve the state of Syria.
