"People in the West know very little about Russia. I hope the things the ralliers will have to say can change Britain and Europe's attitude to your country and increase the inflow of tourists and capital," said the prince, speaking about the possibility of organizing yet another rally involving rare automobiles in Kazan. His visit to Tatarstan was part of the Yekaterinburg-St. Petersburg rally involving rare automobiles. According to Shvetsov's account, the prince was amazed to learn about the republic's rich history and its vast cultural heritage combining Muslim and Orthodox traditions.

"Britain, like Russia, is a polyethnic state," he had observed. "The United Kingdom might be learning tolerance from Tatarstan." Traveling around Kazan in the company of Shvetsov, Michael visited the Kazan Kremlin, the central pedestrian Bauman Street, and the Raifa Monastery of the Blessed Virgin. He was also shown around the Vysokaya Gora motor-racing circuit, which he said complied with "the highest European standards," and the Kazan Helicopter Plant Gorbunov Industrial Association /according to Svetsov, aircraft construction is one of the fields where Russia and Britain can realize joint projects/.
