Russia is not taking French Mistrals

Russia is not taking French Mistrals. Now Moscow will wait for the money, but not the vessles,  from France.

Deputy Chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission Oleg Bochkarev stated that from now on, Russia would discuss only the question of compensation for the non-delivery of two helicopter carriers.

How much will France pay and what will it do to the ships?

Former Transport Minister of France Thierry Mariani said that the vessels could be resold to the European Union. According to him, the ships can be used to rescue migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.

However, in early May, the French publication Le Figaro, citing a senior French official, wrote that Paris was intended to either dismantle or sink the Mistrals in the open sea.

There has been no official statement made yet about the fate of the Russian-French vessels. The contract for the delivery of two Mistral ships "Vladivostok" and "Sevastopol" cost Russia 1.2 billion euros.

UPDATE: According to Putin's official spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who commented on Bochkarev's statement on May 27th, Russia's official position on the French Mistrals remains unchanged. In the middle of May, Peskov said that Russia would be equally happy to receive either the vessels or the money.
