World after 9/11 attacks: War on terror or US propaganda?
09/24/2008 [article] / World / Americas

Russia disrupted the key meeting of the foreign ministers of six mediators for Iran. The meeting was supposed to be held to discuss the passing of the fourth resolution of the UN Security Council. Russia’s decision to boycott the meeting was largely motivated with Condoleezza Rice’s speech, in which the US Secretary of State said that Russia was nearing its own isolation on the international arena. In the meantime, Iran's president told the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday that "the American empire" is nearing collapse and should end its military involvement in other countries

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said during his speech before the Senate Armed Services Committee that a victory over terrorism in Afghanistan was impossible as long as Taliban and al-Qaida guerrillas were hiding at their bases in Pakistan. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari stated in his recent address to the national parliament that he would not allow a foreign military incursion in the country. "American troops are coming, without letting us know, without Pakistan's permission, they are violating the United Nations charter," Zardari said

Last week saw three messages concerning the protection of US human rights while counter-terrorism measures are taken. All of them verify the lamentable conclusion – any war, especially against terrorism, makes citizens less secure against the state machine. Naturally, there are countries where the situation is much worse than in the USA, but nevertheless, the world’s most powerful country has to think over the protection of human rights

A former Reagan official has issued a public warning that the Bush administration is preparing to orchestrate a staged terrorist attack in the United States, transform the country into a dictatorship and launch a war with Iran within a year.

Michael Chertoff, the US Homeland Security chief, that the US was determined to build extra defences against so-called "clean-skin" terrorists from Europe, meaning those who travel with completely legitimate documents.

The 9/11 attacks were not done by terrorists. They were created for justification of U.S. covert plans to grab influence over oil politics in the Middle East and as an excuse to take away the rest of Americans' liberties through a manufactured threat-scenario called, "The War On Terror."

America has changed a lot during the time of George W. Bush's presidency. The Pentagon has virtually become as important as the US Department of State. The Pentagon has been recently given a legal permission to fund the armies of USA's allies

The US administration forgets about the propaganda of democracy if there is a chance to obtain profit
When George W. Bush was delivering his inaugural speech a year ago he emphasized the priorities of US policies during the second term of his presidency. The White House continues to proceed from the national interests, like any other state during any other historical epoch. Defending democracy in the whole world is not a priority for Bush and his administration.

The Twin Towers were long regarded as architectural dinosaurs and economic failures by their original owners
I am a citizen of the USA by birth, and it concerns me that the image of the United States that is presented by the international 'Mainstream Media' is largely a product of US government and corporate propaganda. Media monopolies, such as the ones owned and run by Ted Turner in the USA and by Rupert Murdoch in both the USA and Great Britain, present a one-sided, 'official' view of US politics and of US foreign policy

Is anyone really surprised that the USA now openly advocates torture, spying on its own citizens, or equates dissent with aiding and abetting  the "brutal killers" as Bush describes them?
Whew! Life is imitating art. President Bush stars as Sgt. Bob Barnes,  the maniacal soldier in Oliver Stone's Platoon, who proclaims that he "is reality". Vice President Cheney is Dr. Phibes as portrayed by Vincent Price in the movie classic, The Abominable Doctor Phibes. You want torture? Talk to Dr. Phibes. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld brings  to life Colonel Walt Kurtz, the rogue US Army soldier from Francis Ford  Coppola's Apocalypse Now. American society is modeled on Starship Troopers' militarized society at war with the insects from another galaxy.
