Will Russia Ship S-300 Systems to Iran?
02/15/2010 [article] / Opinion / Columnists

Israeli experts stated that they were not impressed with Iran’s air defense drills because Iran did not have state-of-the-art S-300 missile systems, which Russia refuses to deliver to Iran. Israel will have to take account of Iran’s Tor-M1 systems. Iran also has US-made F-14 jets – about 70 of them in total, but only 30 of them are operable. But this amount of planes will be enough for efficient defense. F-14 jets are very well equipped and can detect targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. The range for F-15 and F-16 is lower

Iran will soon be able to build its own state-of-the-art missile defense system, if Russia does not deliver S-300 missile complexes to the country. A high-ranking Iranian official said that Russia’s refusal not to sell missile complexes to Iran would not stop the nation in the endeavor to create the air defense system. For all the talk of talking and meeting, the propaganda and rhetoric spilling forth from the US is directly setting the stage for war and nothing else. For many people, it is becoming obvious that once more America is leading the West, by setting a new trend: America is the first Western nation under the rulership of a Muslim and more specifically a Sunni Muslim

The talks about the Iranian nuclear program, which start in Geneva today (October 1) are not likely to end successfully. The US administration already works on the package of single-handed sanctions to suit any fancy. Russia sets out concerns about Iran's recent missile tests. China offers everyone to calm down

The change of Russia's stance on Iran's nuclear programs could be seen on September 23 during Medvedev's meeting with Obama in New York. Medvedev stated after the meeting with his American counterpart that Russia could support sanctions against Iran. Indeed, it looks like the USA and Russia have come to the deal at this point

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is proud of the reaction from Western countries to his recent speech in which the notorious politician called doubts on the Holocaust. "They (the Western powers) launched the myth of the Holocaust. They lied, they put on a show and then they support the Jews," he said in his infamous speech. "The anger of the world's professional killers is (a source of) pride for us," he later said
