The draw: Mourinho and Benfica

The draw favours the Portuguese coach Mourinho (Real Madrid) and Benfica, Lisbon's main club: Real face Dortmund in the Champions League (Barça play Bayern); in the Europa, Benfica gets Fenerbahçe while Chelsea faces the tricky Basel.

Europa League: 4 countries represented in semis

Rubin Kazan beat mighty Chelsea 3-2 but despite a spirited performance, it was not enough. Chelsea joins Basel (through on penalties after two 2-2 draws with Spurs) in the semi-final, the first time for the Swiss club, along with Fenerbahçe and Benfica, which eliminated Lazio and Newcastle United, respectively.
