Juventus helped by Inter

Inter Milan beat arch rival AC Milan giving the Italian title to Juventus. City and United go to the wire in the English Premiership and in France it is too close to call still with two games to go to the end of the season. Elsewhere, the champions are already known. Sir Alex Ferguson is counting on ex-player Mark Hughes to put one over the club that sacked him in 2009.

In the last game next Sunday at 16.00, United travel to Sunderland and City receive Queen's park Rangers, desperate for a point to stay in the Premier League. This weekend, City beat Newcastle United 2-0 away, while United received Swansea and won 2-0. Arsenal retains third place with a 3-3 home draw against Norwich City, while Tottenham drew 1-1 at Aston Villa and Everton drew away at Wolves 0-0. Liverpool receives Chelsea on Tuesday.

Valencia guaranteed Champions League soccer next season with a 1-0 win over Villarreal and Málaga is in fourth spot after a 2-1 defeat at Atlético Madrid, fifth. Mallorca enters the pack with a 1-0 victory over Levante.

PSG had temporarily stolen the lead after an early game against Valenciennes ended in a thrilling away win for the Paris side, 4-3 but Montpellier jumped back into the lead with a 2-0 away victory at Rennes. Lille, close behind on 71 points, beat Cannes 3-0 while Lyon drew 1-1 at home with Brest. A goalless draw between Saint-Étienne and Marseille sees the fifth and sixth place tied while Bordeaux enters the pack with a 4-2 away win at Auxerre.

Benfica beat União de Leiria 1-0, Braga secured third place and access to the preliminary round of the Champions League with a win over Beira-Mar. Marítimo had a goalless draw at Olhanense in the Algarve and fellow Madeira team Nacional received Gil Vicente with a 3-1 thumping. Vitória Guimarães beat Feirense away by the same result.
