The State Sports Committee and the Russian Federation of Sports Acrobatics have decided to revive the international competition for the cup of Vladislav Volkov, a Soviet cosmonaut.
Master of Sports Sergei Flyugov, the Chairman of the Novgorod Regional Committee for Youth, Physical Culture, and Sports, has said that the final decision to hold the competition in Veliky Novgorod was taken after the championship of Russia and sports acrobatics cup series had been held in Novgorod's Manezh sports complex on August 14th-18th.
According to Sergei Flyugov, the international competition for the cup Vladislav Volkov, a Soviet cosmonaut, two times Hero of the Soviet Union and the first president of the Russian Federation of Sports Acrobatics will take place in October. This time suits best for the sportsmen fresh from the September world championship in Riesa (Germany).
The competition for the Vladislav Volkov cup has not been held for several years. The competition, with the stars of the world acrobatics participating, used to have the status of "the second, unofficial world championship".
