Ukrainian pilot arrested in Russia to be released when Poroshenko becomes US president

Ukrainian President Poroshenko, who promised to return Ukrainian "heroine" Savchenko home, will not be able to do this, as it is simply impossible, an official spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee said.

Ukraine will not be able to release pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who was contained at a detention center in the city of Voronezh, spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said.

"Chances for that are similar to Poroshenko's chances to become the American President," lenta.ru quoted Markin as saying. In addition, he said that Kiev did not appeal to Moscow to release Savchenko.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine called Savchenko "a symbol of the struggle for Ukraine" and vowed to do everything possible to bring her back home. "We will not calm down until we can tell her mother that her heroic daughter Nadezhda Savchenko was all right," said Poroshenko.

Nadezhda Savchenko is accused of involvement in the murder of journalists of Russian TV and radio company VGTRK near Luhansk. The court extended her arrest before August 30. Savchenko was detained after she illegally entered the territory of Russia without documents under the guise of a refugee.

According to investigators, on June 17, pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, during the fighting near Lugansk, learned the coordinates of the location of the VGTRK crew and reported the data to her commanders. As a result of the mortar attack, sound engineer Anton Voloshin and correspondent Igor Kornelyuk were killed.

"We have repeatedly said that all those, who order and execute war crimes on the territory of Ukraine ,will have to answer for that. Russian court arrested in absentia Ukraine Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, who, like his accomplice Igor Kolomoisky is accused of mass killings, kidnappings, the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare and of obstructing the work of journalists. As investigators believe, among other crimes, these two are related to the deaths of Russian journalists in the south-east of Ukraine," the Investigative Committee of Russia said.

Ukrainian online edition segodnya.ua said that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko personally supervises the question of releasing Nadezhda Savchenko. On July 8, he signed a decree on urgent measures for her return to Ukraine. "All competent authorities are involved. The head of state is informed about the implementation of the presidential decree daily. Poroshenko also discussed the situation with the Ukrainian pilot in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande," said the Ukrainian news portal.

Pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who was taken under custody in Russia, says that she does not have any complaints about the conditions of her stay in Voronezh. Yet, Ukraine came up with another story, in which Savchenko appears as a martyr.
