Friend and Co-Author of Gabriel Garcia Marquez in Moscow

Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza, a friend and co-author of the famous Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, will deliver a lecture "When Garcia Marquez Saw Snow for the First Time /Recollections of Memoirs/" in the Cervantes Institute, Moscow, on Tuesday.

Colombian Ambassador to Russia Miguel Santa-Maria Davila is to open the meeting, which is timed to coincide with the publication of the first volume of Garcia Marquez' memoirs "Living Life to Tell It".

Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza will speak about Marquez' youth, the times, which they spent together in Paris, Caracas, Bogota and Havana, and their trips to the Soviet Union and other socialist countries.

In addition, he will tell the story of the books "No One Writes to the Colonel", "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "The Autumn of the Patriarch".

Plinio Apuleyo Mendoza is a writer, journalist and diplomat. He was born in the town of Tunja, Colombia, in 1932. In addition to several books, written in co-authorship with Marquez or about him ("The Fragrance of Guava" and "Those Times with Gabo"), Mendoza wrote some novels, including "Years of Flight".

In addition, he is a co-author of such best-sellers, as "Guide to the Perfect Latin American Idiot" and "The Manufacturing of Poverty".
