About 1.5 tons of humanitarian aid – office supplies, warm clothing, and books – were collected by Vitaly Ilyushkin, a well-known icon-artist in the city of Volgograd. Ilyushkin is the supervisor of the committee “Peace in Chechnya.” All of the items will be shipped to the soldiers serving in Chechnya, to the Argun Gorge area, as New Year presents. A part of the aid is meant for the children living in the remote mountain districts of the republic. The residents of the Volga Orthodox Charity House and students of the local schools helped the Volgograd missionary collect the items. Vitaly Ilyushkin hopes for help from other sponsors in order to deliver Christmas presents to Chechnya.
