Radio for foreigners launched in Moscow

An English-language radio station begins broadcasting in Moscow on 105,2 FM frequency. The station positions itself as a guide to events in the Russian capital for foreigners and those who study the English language, Novaya Politika magazine wrote. Broadcasts begins on November 12th, midday.

Music will be the main content of Moscow FM, about 20-30 percent will be devoted to news and reports. In addition to city news, the radio station also plans to highlight international news, Prime news agency reports.

The staff of the radio station counts 20 people, about 60 percent of them are foreigners. The news content for the station will be provided by Russia Today. The news will be integrated with programs on cultural events and leisure, said Maria Mikhailova, a spokeswoman for Moscow Media.

Moscow FM will broadcast on the frequency of Next FM. In September, the city government purchased the radio station from General Director Yulia Yakovleva. According to Business FM, the Moscow Government had plans to open a news radio Capital 24, but the government already has a similar station - "This Is Moscow."
