Traces of Scythian civilization found at the bottom of Russian Lake Issyk Kul
Expedition organized by Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences discovered that Scythian ancient highly developed civilization existed about 2500 years ago in the lake Issyk Kul region.
Divers studying the bottom of Issyk Kul found Scythian burial mounds eroded by water at a depth of 5 meters.
“At this place scientists found undestroyed items of Scythian period including bronze pikes and hatchets, knives and also a gold bar that weighed almost 70 grams” - said vice-president of Academy of Sciences Vladimir Ploskih, who headed the expedition.
