Iodine extremely important for human reproductive function

Iodine shortage is often said to be the cause of several nervous disorders

We know iodine as an essential microelement for kids as it makes for normal development of a child's organism. Adults, especially women, must not ignore iodine as well. The shortage of iodine may result in a number of diseases; about one third of the Russian population is particularly disposed to development of such ailments.

Russia's soil, water and consequently meal contain little iodine. The average iodine consumption in Russia makes up 40-60 microgram of iodine, but the average amount of iodine consumption must make up over 90 microgram for little children and up to 200 microgram for pregnant and nursing women.

The thyroid gland is the first organ that immediately reacts to iodine deficiency; it grows bigger to compensate for the iodine shortage. If iodine deficit lasts too long, the thyroid gland reduces production of thyroid hormones. The brain is particularly susceptible to shortage of thyroid hormones. That is why iodine deficit is often said to be the cause of several nervous disorders. It entails low spirits and depressions, apathy, attention and memory problems. This disease also affects all organs and systems of the human organism. Often people with diseased thyroid gland complain of heart or gastrointestinal problems. To cure the sickness, it is important to correctly diagnose the cause of the disease.

Iodine deficit is also bad for women's reproduction function, and makes a risk factor for development of breast cancer. Researches reveal that thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland protect the human organism from carcinogens. This protection gets ineffective when there is insufficient amount of thyroid hormones.

Iodine deficit and thyroid gland disease may entail sterility, pathologic pregnancy and childbirth. Being pregnant, mothers should fill up iodine deficit in the organism, as this microelement is essential for their health and for baby development.

Children are particularly susceptible to iodine deficit: children feel apathy, make poor progress in studies and have no appetite. This deficit must be immediately filled up otherwise it may cause more serious problems. To have sufficient supply of iodine in the organism, take iodine pills every day.
