Nuclear Waste Comes To Russia From Bulgaria

A big load of waste nuclear fuel has been transported from Bulgaria to a mining and chemical plant based in Zheleznogorsk near Krasnoyarsk, East Siberia. A plant spokesman said a special train delivered ninety six tanks of waste elements from the Soviet-built nuclear power plant Kozlodui in Bulgaria. The press service of the Russian Nuclear Energy Ministry remarked that the delivery was carried out in line with an agreement concluded when the nuclear power plant was being built in Bulgaria. Nuclear waste from other countries where Soviet-made reactors are operating - Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Lithuania - is also transported to Russia.
