Congress Of Liberal Democrats Takes Decision To Found Political Party

The 13th Congress of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) took a decision on Thursday to reorganise the public and political organisation of the LDPR into a political party. Speaking on the subject after the results of the voting, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky expressed the hope that the decision of the congress would be a new stage in the development of the party. The congress delegates have also approved a new wording of the party's Programme. As a result of the discussion, the party members did not agree with the proposal of their leader not to regard any longer the United States as their enemy. "Until in the documents of the USA Russia remains to be its main opponent, the LDPR cannot exclude the United States from among its enemies," believe the congress delegates. Thus, the LDPR continues to think that the main threat to Russia comes from the USA. At the same time business, economic and cultural cooperation is quite possible. The LDPR Programme says that the party considers that Russia's main economic and political partners are Germany, Japan and China. The congress is attended by 221 delegates from 69 regions of Russia.
