Wake Up, America! (Part II)
On June 10, 1932, Congressman McFadden launched a twenty-five minute tirade against the Fed. Some of his remarks: “Mr. Chairman, we have, in this country, one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve banks. The Federal Reserve Board, a government board, has cheated the government of the United States out of enough money to pay the national debt...The depredations and the iniquities of the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal reserve banks acting together have cost this country enough money to pay the debt several times over... This evil institution has impoverished and ruined the people of the United States; has bankrupted itself, and has practically bankrupted our Government. It has done this through defects of the law under which it operates, through the maladministration of that law by the Federal Reserve Board, and through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it.”
Speaking before Congress in 1957, Nevada Senator George W. Malone stated: “I believe that if the people of this nation fully understood what Congress has done to them over the last 49 years, they would move on Washington; they would not wait for an election... It adds up to a preconceived plan to destroy the economic and social independence of the United States.” Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter, in 1952 stated “The real rulers in Washington are invisible, and exercise power from behind the scenes.”
On 1/17/1961, in a televised farewell address to the American people, President Dwight D. Eisenhower ended his presidential term by warning the American People about the increasing power of the “military-industrial complex.” Ike warned: “This conjunction of an immense military establishment & a large arms industry is new in the American experience... In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists & will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic process.” He then counseled American citizens to be vigilant in monitoring the military-industrial complex. “Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”
Have we forgotten their lessons of our Fore-Fathers? “The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men” - Samuel Adams. “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety” - Pennsylvania Assembly: Reply to the Governor - Nov 11, 1755. “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death”- Patrick Henry - March 23, 1775. “Live Free Or Die; Death Is Not The Worst of Evils”- General John Stark - July 31, 1809.
“And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure”- Thomas Jefferson - November 13, 1787. “Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind”- Article l0 (Right of Revolution), New Hampshire Constitution - June 2, l784.
The people who spoke these words, actually backed them up with action. They were NOT afraid to spill their Blood to throw off the shackles of Tyranny. They placed their lives on the line; without hesitation, not knowing if they would see “liberty or death”; not knowing if they would “Live Free Or Die”, yet comforted in knowing that “Death Is Not The Worst of Evils”. How have we fallen so far, so fast?
