Eduard Shevardnadze postpones his speech in the Georgian parliament
Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze put off his speech in the Georgian parliament about the situation in the country, which had been earlier scheduled for September 26th. Speaker of the Georgian parliament Nino Burdzhanadze told the deputies on Tuesday that Eduard Shevardnadze would address them at the first plenary week after the end of the CIS summit in Chisinau which will meet on October 7th.
She did not say whether this was connected with the situation in the Pankisi Gorge or with the aggravation of Russian-Georgian relations due to this.
Nino Burdzhanadze believes that after the end of the meeting of the CIS heads of state, the Georgian President will be able, together with other problems, to inform the parliamentarians of the results of the summit and would also be expected to sum up his meeting with the President of Russia.
Russia has officially accused Georgia of the fact that its officials are maintaining contacts with international terrorists and refuse from cooperation with Moscow and Washington in eradicating the seat of terrorism in their republic.
