The last butt-joint of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline welded in Belorussia
On Tuesday chief of the press service of the state Beltransgaz concern Tatyana Borodich reported to RIA Novosti that the last "golden" butt-joint of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline was welded. According to her, the "575 km-long Belorussian sector united the Polish and Russian sectors of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline into a single gas transportation system." She indicated that works to automate technological process of gas transportation and to construct 4 compressor stations would be started in the nearest future.
Transit of Russian gas across Belorussia towards Germany through the dedicated Yamal-Europe system is expected to be started already at the beginning of the next year. According to Beltransgaz specialists, it will increase reliability of gas transportation to Western customers.
