Russian Foreign Minister's First Deputy, the Russian President's Special Envoy on the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict Valery Loshchinin arrived in Sukhumi in order to hold talks with the Leadership of Abkhazia /self-proclaimed republic on the territory of Georgia/. This was disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent on Thursday by the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry.

According to the source, in a run of one day Loshchinin will meet with Abkhazian Prime Minister Gennady Gagulia, Vice Premier Valery Arshba and Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba.

The Abkhazian Foreign Ministry expects that the key issue of the discussions will be the issue concerning the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict. "As a preliminary condition for the reactivation of the negotiating process, Sukhumi raises an issue about the necessity to withdraw all Georgian military detachments from the upper part of the Kodori gorge, the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry stressed.

In Sukhumi Loshchinin will discuss the proposal of Moscow to form a new Georgian-Abkhazian meeting on the issues of trust - the so called "Yalta-2", the Russian Foreign Ministry disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent.

It is expected that the Russian President's Special Envoy will also discuss the same proposal with the leadership of Georgia. "The visit to Tbilisi is included in the working schedule of Valery Loshchinin, and we hope that the visit will be paid in the nearest future," the Foreign Ministry noted.

In the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict Russia considers its role as an assistant in the settlement of the conflict, resumption of the constructive dialogue and search of the mutually beneficial compromise.

"Moscow believes that Georgia is interested in the resumption of the dialogue," the Russian foreign Ministry stressed.
