The flow rate of the water in the lower reaches of the Terek river on the territory of Daghestan (a Caspian autonomous republic incorporated in Russia) reached 1,395-1,460 cubic metres per second on the night from Monday to Tuesday. This was the third since June 21 rise of the water level above the critical mark registered by the hydrological service on the Kargalinsky hydro-unit.

This most dangerous wave, which had caused another breach of the protective earthen dam this time was 7 km above the Kargalinsky hydro-unit, said Pyotr Postavik, director of the Daghestan hydro-meteorological observatory.

At the present time, the 6 m breach has been filled up thanks to emergency steps that were taken, which eliminated the threat of farmlands and settlements being flooded.
