British soldier dies in Afghanistan

A British soldier died Monday in southern Afghanistan.

The soldier, who was not identified by name, was from the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment.

The ministry said it could not immediately provide any further details on the attack, which took place in volatile Helmand province

Fifty-six British military personnel have died in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion to oust the Taliban in November 2001, according to Defense Ministry figures.
