The Austrian mass media sources highly praised the hostage rescue operation conducted by the RF special services in Moscow.
Austrians consider the operation as "a justified, timely and necessary action." The Austrian TV channel ORF analysts underline that "the terrorists assured their own deaths from the beginning" when they captured innocent hostages.
In their opinion, "the Chechen terrorists must have been stopped long time ago and their status should have been equalled with those terrorist organizations, which are on the list of banned political groups." According to the statement of a high-ranking OSCE secretariat official in Vienna, an article on how to efficiently stand against the Chechen terrorists must be urgently added to the "Charter on the fight against terrorism and extremism" to be adopted during the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the countries-members of the OSCE in Porto (Portugal) on December 4-5 this year.
