Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov met Ukrainian parliamentary speaker Vladimir Litvin in Moscow on Monday.

The Russian Prime Minister spoke out in favour of developing Moscow-Kiev ties in order to bring them up to the level of cooperation the presidents and governments of the two countries have achieved. According to Kasyanov, the development of relations between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Ukrainian Rada (parliament) is "an important factor of cooperation between the two countries".

This is the first visit to Russia by a delegation of Ukraine's Rada of new convocation, Litvin said. He regards this visit as an important event in the development of Russian-Ukrainian relations.

Kasyanov and Litvin discussed a wide range of Russian-Ukrainian issues, for instance, the implementation of agreements, achieved by the Russian and Ukrainian presidents.
