Flood relief cargo sent from Russia to Germany
On Friday a convoy consisting of trucks of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered to flood-stricken Germany various equipment worth 16,700,000 roubles (more than 500,000 euros), reported Alexander Moskalets, deputy head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, from the German city of Frankfurt-on-Oder right after the convoy crossed over the Russian border between Poland and Germany.
The cargo includes 344 electric pumps of two different types, 140 fans for drying buildings, 14 lighting fixtures, 90 portable and towed power stations (diesel generators) and 35 special pumps for dirty water.
All the equipment is handed over to the German side as gratis humanitarian aid.
The convoy has also brought a special laboratory together with the servicing personnel for determining the stability of buildings and structures damaged during the flood. After the laboratory finishes its work in Germany it will return to Russia.
Other equipment and 250,000 sacks were delivered on the previous day to Parchim airfield. They will be filled with sand and used to reinforce dams.
Experts of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have been working together with their colleagues from the German technical aid service near Dresden-on-Elbe - two Russian crews of rescue amphibious cars with a high cargo capacity and passability.
