China, flooded shaft: 16 dead miners found, 40 others still missing
It said rescuers were continuing to search for the 40 others still missing, the AP reports.
The mine was flooded on May 18 while 266 workers were underground, and 210 managed to escape. So far 19 people, including the mine's owner, labor contractors, bank officials and workers in charge of detecting water have been detained by police, according to an earlier Xinhua report.
